Traffic in human beings, begging and other similar forms of forced labour are prohibited and any contravention of this provision shall be an offence punishable in accordance with law.

Sharma, Director General (Prison), Kolkata and asked him about the number of children of prisoners residing in prison at Kolkata, on 18 and  19 November, 2008

  • To concentrate on all the issues concerning children in the State. The main concentration of the visiting team was on the situation of children affected by HIV Aids at Imphal, Manipur during 3 to 5 September, 2008

  • Discussion on Child Health Policy with the faculty of Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad; to attend the 3rd Meeting of the Governing Council of the Indian Institute of Public Health, Hyderabad at 3.30 p.m. at the Garden Room, Taj Krishna, Road No. 1, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad and to have Discussions/ Meetings with  NGOs and Activists on Child Health Policy in Andhra Pradesh at Hyderabad, during 13 to 17 August, 2008

  • To discuss on Children Health with both Health Minister and Labour Commissioner at Panipat.  Both of them assured her to do the needful at Panipat, during 2 and 4 September, 2008

  • A team  from the  Commission visited Amravati, Maharashtra –in July, 2007 to study the situation of Child Malnutrition, Right to Education, Child Labour and Child Health in the district and recommendations were made to the State Government on the basis of its findings

  • A team from the Commission also visited Adilabad in June, 2008 to study the situation of Child Malnutrition. Recommendations were made to the State Government on the basis of its findings.

  • A follow up visit to both Amaravati and Adilabad have been made by two separate teams in the last week of November, 2008 and the report is awaited.

  • Commission has also visited North East (Manipur) to study the situation of HIV affected children in Manipur during 3rd to 10th September, 2008. Recommendations have been made to the State governments and as well as the Ministry of DONER for taking appropriate measures. 

  • Member DD had made a follow up visit to Manipur from 3rd to 6th December, 2008.

  • To inquire into the violation of right to privacy through unauthorized medical checkup of students under the so-called School Health Programme
  • Visit  to Devarkonda area, Nalgonda District of AP in connection with Female Foeticide especially among the members of the Lambada community as there was a complaint of some recent developments in that area among Lambada community about bad practice of Female Infanticide and to meet with NGOs on ‘Rights of Children at Railway Platforms’ at Hyderabad during 8 to 11 November, 2008
