  • Meeting on Corporal Punishment was held on 7th July, 2008 at NCPCR Office 
  • Meeting was held on 18th September, 2008 with UNICEF to prepare a Campaign and Media Strategy to take the recommendation of working group to scale
  • Consultation on National Advocacy Campaign against Corporal Punishment
  • NCPCR and UNICEF organised a Press Dialogue with the Media to 'End Corporal Punishment: The Right to Protection and Dignity' at India Habitat Centre on 19th February 2009, New Delhi

WGroups

A Working Group was constituted on 22nd October 2007 to:

  1. Review the Department of Education’s Guidelines/ Policy on Corporal Punishment

  2. Undertake in-depth Review of existing positive practices of getting a feedback by the school management from children and their parents regarding Corporal Punishment in schools and their efficacy

  3. Enlist opinions of school teachers and teacher unions, education bureaucracy, NGOs, and educationists on Corporal Punishment and their opinions on how to stop the practice

  4. Review existing legal framework/ case law against Corporal Punishment

  5. Evolve a policy and strategies for stopping Corporal Punishment in schools and a meeting of the Group was held on the same date
